Courir Accelerates Its Growth with SAP Cloud ERP Private and oXya

Courir’s migration project to SAP S/4HANA represented a major challenge, both in terms of transforming and optimizing business processes and from a technological standpoint, with the adoption of the RISE offering.

Throughout the project, oXya secured the entire technological transformation thanks to its ability to collaborate efficiently with both SAP technical teams and our system integrator. oXya ensured a reliable and continuous interface throughout the project.

Challenge

Courir’s SAP system, inherited from Go Sport, had become unsuited to the group’s ambitious growth strategy. With plans to expand both in France and internationally, accelerate e-commerce development, and strengthen omnichannel customer journeys, Courir needed a more agile system with standardized processes and the adoption of best practices, to effectively support this ambition.

Solution

Courir chose to migrate its system to SAP Cloud ERP Private (formerly RISE) using a greenfield approach. Supported by oXya both during the transformation project and for ongoing managed services, Courir successfully turned an aging legacy system into a future-ready foundation for growth.

Outcome

Increased process standardization (over 90% standardized processes), greater agility to support business growth, a highly available SAP system, fully controlled and managed on a daily basis.

A Digital Transformation to Support Rapid Growth

As the French leader in sneaker retail, with 330 stores worldwide, including 240 in France, Courir has experienced remarkable growth in recent years. The company’s revenue increased significantly, rising from €350 million in 2019 to €755 million in 2025. This growth was accompanied by a profound transformation of its business model, driven by international expansion, the rapid growth of e-commerce, and the shift toward a fully omnichannel approach.

In 2022, Courir initiated a strategic review of its information system. Inherited from Go Sport, the existing SAP ECC Retail system lacked agility and performance and relied heavily on custom developments. As a result, it was no longer able to support the Group’s growth ambitions and was not fully mastered by internal teams.

To support its transformation and prepare for the future, Courir decided to modernize its information system by migrating to SAP S/4HANA on RISE, adopting a greenfield approach. Rather than transforming the existing system, the company chose to start from a clean slate. For this strategic and ambitious project, Courir relied on its long-standing partner, oXya.

A Strong Business-Driven Approach

From the very beginning of the project in 2023, Courir chose a business-led approach, focused on operational needs and process optimization. Designed at group level, the project involved more than 3,000 users across 7 countries, fully aligned with Courir’s growth ambitions.

One of the project’s key objectives was to maximize the adoption of SAP best practices while minimizing custom developments. This approach proved highly successful, with the final design achieving over 90% alignment with the SAP standard. This high level of standardization simplifies processes, reduces maintenance costs, facilitates employee training, lowers project-related risks, and enhances operational efficiency by leveraging proven best practices embedded in SAP solutions.

Optimized Management of SAP Cloud ERP Private with oXya

While SAP Cloud ERP Private brings many benefits, it also requires expert support to be managed effectively. Beyond the project phase, oXya plays a key role in day-to-day operations. After handling more than 400 service requests within five months of the project, including 350 technical requests, oXya teams continue to handle daily interactions with SAP teams, managing service requests and system updates. Both during the project and in ongoing operations, effective collaboration between SAP, oXya, and the system integrator depends on a clear definition of roles and responsibilities to ensure smoother interactions and greater performance.

Key Takeaways from the Project

The project, followed by the RUN phase after the first go-live in April 2024, provided several key and structural insights.

The choice of SAP Cloud ERP Private enabled Courir to benefit from a gradual and controlled evolution of its technical capacity, thanks to the T-shirt sizing model. The Group initially started with an XXS size during the first two years of the contract, before moving to an XS size, allowing system capacity to be aligned with actual business needs while optimizing costs. The offering also includes continuous patching, strengthening system security and stability.

However, SAP Cloud ERP Private also requires adopting a new operating model, based on the management of interventions through Service Requests. This approach requires anticipating lead times between request submission and execution, and therefore careful planning of operations. In this context, oXya’s support proved essential in managing the complexities of the offering and ensuring the smooth execution of both the project and RUN phases.

Finally, archiving and housekeeping activities emerged as key challenges that need to be anticipated in order to prevent excessive memory consumption.

Overall, this project represents a significant milestone in Courir’s digital transformation. It highlights the value of a modernized and standardized approach to support growth and address the evolving challenges of the market.
